In 2012, Mr. Native Texan hit the big 4-0.  In honor of such a momentous occasion I gave him a chicken coop plus a few laying hens.  He loved it, and the rest was history!

Later this year (2018), it’s my turn to celebrate four decades.  So we’re buying a 20-acre farm.

Yep, we’re moving.  Which means there’s a 3 acre homestead for sale in Northern Virginia…want to buy it?

We love our so many things about our current home and are sad to leave.  It’s an amazing location with beautiful views.  It’s been home base for almost nine years.  Our kids have grown up here.

But there are a few things about the house and the property that just aren’t working for us anymore.  Mostly we just want more land.  In fact, for the last few years, we’ve been kicking around three options:

  1. Renovate current house
  2. Build new house on more land
  3. Move to larger property with existing house and outbuildings

We came so close to starting renovations, but then Mr. Native Texan backed out.  He decided it wasn’t worth it to spend the money to tweak the house and in the end still have only three acres.

Our homesteading plans continue to expand, and we’re eager to have a bit more land where we can raise more livestock.  We’d hoped to buy the 18 acre field adjacent to our own three acres, but that option was very clearly ruled out by the owner of said property.

Long story short, we fell in love with a 20-acre property just 30 minutes from our current home.  It’s within driving distance of our current church, which was a major factor for us.  It also includes several barns and sheds, which will be perfect for our homesteading goals.  The house is unique (in a good way!) and satisfies most of the criteria on our wish list.

We live in Ashburn and are looking to sell our townhouse within a month to get a bigger space to homeschool and raise our 4 kids in. Last week we toured your home with our realtor Even though we’re not at the point of being able to put a contract down on anything, and I was just so charmed by the setting and the house and what you have done with it. All of your books! Omg! All the beautiful Charlotte mason and crunchy food loveliness I could imagine. Plus all of the antiques you’ve repurposed. And the views on that hill. Even though the location is farther than we wanted for my husband’s commute, the house is a bit smaller than we were looking for, and the price is a bit higher than we were budgeting for, it’s just stuck in my head ever since we walked through. I hope you find buyers who love it. Or that somehow the stars align and it’s us. I’ve been dreaming of chickens and gardens and room to run free for the past decade in this townhouse.
